Specifications

Product Name Release Liner (Glassine / PET)
Function Release liner provides protection and support for the label construction, allowing smooth die‑cutting, converting, storage and dispensing before application.
Glassine Liner 60–80 gsm glassine release paper with a smooth surface and cost‑effective performance for general label applications.
PET Liner 25–50 µm PET film liner with high temperature resistance, excellent dimensional stability and consistent dispensing for demanding converting conditions.
Typical Selection Glassine for general converting and cost‑sensitive projects; PET for high‑speed dispensing, higher temperature environments and tighter dimensional tolerances.

About Release Liners

A release liner (also called backing paper or carrier) is the protective layer that supports the label until it is applied. It prevents the adhesive from sticking prematurely, protects the adhesive surface and ensures stable handling during printing, die‑cutting, rewinding and automatic dispensing.

Liner Options

Glassine liner (60–80 gsm)

Glassine liners are widely used for standard self‑adhesive labels. They provide a smooth surface for reliable die‑cutting and dispensing and offer an excellent balance of performance and cost, making them ideal for most general‑purpose labels.

PET liner (25–50 µm)

PET liners offer superior strength and dimensional stability compared with paper liners. They perform well in high‑speed dispensing and demanding converting operations and provide higher temperature resistance and stable release characteristics.

Function in Label Construction

The release liner acts as a carrier for the facestock and adhesive. It helps protect the label construction during transport and storage and supports accurate label dispensing on automatic labelling lines. Choosing the right liner improves productivity, reduces web breaks and ensures consistent label application.

Applications

General self‑adhesive labels

Glassine liner is commonly used for coated paper labels, thermal labels and many film labels where cost‑effective converting is required.

High‑speed and high‑precision labelling

PET liner is suitable for demanding applications requiring better web stability, accurate die‑cutting and reliable dispensing, such as durable film labels and high‑temperature environments.

In summary, XIYONG Release Liner (Glassine / PET) options provide reliable release protection and stable support for self‑adhesive labels, helping converters choose the right balance of cost, stability and temperature performance.
